SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts – The American International College women's soccer team tied in a scoreless Northeast-10 Conference match against No. 8 Southern New Hampshire University on Tuesday, September 24.
AIC's record is now 4-2-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the NE10.
In the first half, AIC was quiet on the offensive side with only two scoring opportunities. SNHU's defense was spectacular during the first half, keeping AIC on its defensive side for majority of the half. The best scoring opportunity SNHU had was during the first half. Agata Giani was right outside of the box for a free kick on the right side of the field and fired a shot that just missed, hitting the crossbar.
After both teams regrouped during half time, they came out with increased offensive pressure. SNHU generated seven shots in the second half, while AIC had five.
AIC had its best scoring opportunity during the second half when Gabrielle Williams had a break away. She came up on the left side of the field and was able to work past two defenders. As she got into the box she fired a shot, but Claudia Keith was there to save it.
Both teams' goalies, Keith for SNHU and Tia Kelk for AIC, had three saves during the match up.
The Yellow Jackets will be traveling to New Haven, Connecticut to face the Chargers on Saturday, October, 5 at 7:00 p.m.
