SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - In a game that seemed destined for a 0-0 draw, both Saint Michael's College and the American International College men's soccer team found late heroics for a 1-1 tie in Northeast-10 Conference play on Tuesday, September 26.
AIC is now 2-1-5 overall with a 2-0-1 NE10 mark.
With just over five minutes left in regulation, the Purple Knights drew a corner kick. Amos Schramm fired the ball toward the box, and at the left post, Drew Kull deflected it in to break the scoreless tie at 84:36.
Facing a defeat, the Yellow Jackets went to work. AIC was able to get the ball in deep on the left side, and Gabriel Nissen crossed to the top of the six-yard box, where Ali Taleb drove a one-timer underneath the crossbar for his first of the season just 45 seconds after the Purple Knights had taken the lead.
Neither side was able to generate a second goal, leaving the game a draw. Both goalkeepers made two saves.
AIC next plays at Georgian Court University on Thursday, September 28 at 1:00 p.m.
