ALBANY, New York - Despite a game-high 26 from Briana Lee, the American International College women's basketball team fell at The College of Saint Rose, 71-53, on Saturday, February 10 in Northeast-10 Conference action.
AIC is now 12-11 overall and 7-10 in the NE10.
Lee made the game's first field goal, knocking down a three off of a pass from Nora Young, opening a back-and-forth for the first five minutes, but the Golden Knights went on a late run to lead 18-10 after one. They kept it going with the first seven points in the second before Lee snapped the skid with a field goal. However, Saint Rose continued to control the play, and held a 39-19 advantage at halftime.
The Yellow Jackets put up a strong fight in the third, using a bucket by by Rhaymi Porter sandwiched between threes by Lee and Kayla Robinson to cut the deficit to 44-35, but AIC could not close further. The Golden Knights scored 20 in the fourth to earn the 71-53 win.
Apart from Lee, Ruzgar Christina Boyle added a double-digit game with 12 points; Porter grabbed eight boards and three blocks to lead the defense.
AIC next hosts Southern New Hampshire University at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13.
