SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College women's soccer team handled Queens College with a 3-0 win on Wednesday, October 5.
AIC is now 5-2-0 on the 2023 campaign.
Leya Vohra scored the game's first goal, firing a long kick from 24 yards out on the right side off of the left post at 27:12 for her first of the year.
In the second, AIC put the game on ice. Nicole Gamberoni drove into the right side of the box before putting a pass right at the feet of Sydney Mercier, and she slotted home her first of the season at 62:55. Vohra then added an assist to her tally, hitting a corner kick that was put away by Vasiliki Flaouna for her second of the season at 78:45.
Sara Avery saved the one shot she faced for a shutout win, improving to 4-1-0. She has three shutouts on the season and has not allowed a goal in 223:49 of play.
The team next heads to Southern New Hampshire University for a Northeast-10 Conference matchup on Saturday, October 7 at 1:00 p.m.
