SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College women's volleyball team fell 17-25, 22-25, 17-25 to the University of Bridgeport on Tuesday, September 19.
AIC is now 5-6 on the campaign.
The Yellow Jackets opened with a 3-0 run and led 8-4 when the Purple Knights turned the match around. A pair of six-point runs gave them a lead of 18-10, and they took the first 25-18.
In the second, Bridgeport trailed AIC 21-19 after a pair of blocks by Paola Soto Burgos and Aleksandra Ivanovic, and called a timeout. The Purple Knights came out of the stoppage and scored five of the next six points to win the set.
The guests roared out of the start of the third with an 8-2 lead. AIC adjusted, sending freshmen setters Victoria Mendez and Adriana Rivera Rodriguez to the floor, and though they helped close the gap, it was too much to overcome as the Purple Knights took the set and match.
AIC opens Northeast-10 Conference play on Homecoming, with a 1:00 p.m. match against The College of Saint Rose on Saturday, September 23.
