Bio

One of the all-time leading scorers in the long history of American International College’s hockey program, William “Bill” Condon was an offensive force on arguably the best line in team history. He played right wing on a unit with center Edgar Alejandro and left wing Tom Mullen, and the trio were known as the “New York Goal Exchange” for their ability to put pucks in the net at will. His line had 192 points just in 1974-75, with 81 goals and 111 assists. Condon specifically scored 62 goals and 114 assists in his career, and sits seventh all-time in points with 176; he is tied for fourth in assists with Mullen and Vezio Sacratini.

Condon was looked to as a leader, serving as the team’s captain in the 1975-76 and 1976-77 seasons, and earned many accolades over his career. He was the winner of the William E. Conniff Award for ability, scholarship, and loyalty, the Henry Butova Memorial Award for leadership, and the F.J. Maloney Award as the most outstanding athlete for four years at AIC. He also earned a selection to Who’s Who In American Universities and Colleges in 1977, and a Citation of Merit. Off the ice, he served as a Resident Assistant for housing at AIC for three years.

After graduating with a degree in business administration, Condon returned home and coached at Cardinal Hayes High School for five years, reaching New York City’s prestigious Catholic High School City Championship every year, winning three times. He also refereed youth, high school and collegiate hockey for a dozen years and served the NHL as an off-ice official for six.
