Bio

Nielsson Arcibal ’12 returned to his alma mater to serve as the Director of Hockey Operations for the ice hockey program at American International College in September of 2022 and was named Assistant Coach the following season.

Arcibal’s resume covers a variety of hockey experiences. The San Diego, California native was a roller hockey player until the age of 13 when he first switched to ice hockey, and what followed was a junior career with the NAHL’s Texas Tornado and USHL’s Des Moines Buccaneers. He won the NAHL title in Texas in 2006.

He arrived at AIC in the fall of 2008 and made an immediate impact. As a four-year member of the team, he was a dominant force in all three zones as a center, graduating as AIC’s all-time Division I era assists leader. He served as an alternate captain as a junior and was the team’s captain as a senior. In the final game of his collegiate career, an AHA Tournament contest at Robert Morris University, Arcibal netted a natural hat trick in the third period of Game 3, leading AIC back from a 3-0 deficit to force overtime. He remains eighth in points with 84 and fourth in assists in program history in the Division I era with 57 as of the start of the 2022 season.

Arcibal played professionally after graduating on the ice for Nittorp in Sweden as well as for the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays and SPHL’s Columbus Cottonmouths. He also represented Team USA in the IIHF’s Inline Hockey World Championship, winning Gold in 2013 and 2017.

Arcibal has also coached with the USPHL’s Springfield Pics, and currently serves as the head coach of the Greater Springfield Aces 10U program, as well as the head trainer for ARC Hockey Training.
