HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Bears, who were serving as the road team, scored two runs in the first inning to get the game started.
- AIC's bats started to warm up in the third inning. With one out, junior Michael Cruz doubled to left field. Senior Brandon Gaul singled to center field and the centerfielder misplayed the throw which allowed Cruz to score.
- Bloomfield added a pair of runs in the top of the fourth on a two-run home run to extend their lead to 4-1.
- The Yellow Jackets put up a crooked number in the bottom of the fourth. It started with rookie leadoff hitter Austin Bequeath who walked. Sophomore Darion Crawford walked before both Yellow Jackets stole their next base. After a strikeout, sophomore Michael Nazarro hit into a fielder's choice as the Bears got Bequeath trying to score. Nazzaro stole second before Haker singled to left which allowed Crawford and Nazzaro to score. After four innings of play, the Bears led 4-3.
- Bloomfield scored their fifth run in the fifth but AIC answered with a pair of runs to tie the game at five. Senior Angel Mendez opened things up as he was hit by a pitch. Cruz then forced the Bears second basemen to commit an error as AIC had runners on first and second. Gaul laid down a beautiful bunt and the pitcher committed a throwing error which allowed Mendez and Cruz to score while Gaul scooted over to third.
- Both teams scored a run in the sixth as AIC's came off the bat of Gaul on a sacrifice fly to left field.
- AIC took its first lead of the game in the bottom of the seventh when Lavelle scored from third on a wild pitch.
- Bloomfield added five runs in the top of the eighth on four hits to take the 11-7 lead. An inning later they scored three runs to extend their lead.
- Bequeath had a one-out double in the ninth. He came around to score when Lavelle traded places with him with two outs. Lavell scored on a single by Nazzaro but that is where the scoring ended for the Yellow Jackets.
