HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Yellow Jackets struck early. Junior Chad Lavelle singled to left and took second on a fielding error by the left fielder. He advanced to third as junior Michael Cruz flew out to right before scoring on a ground out to second by senior Brandon Gaul. Junior Alejandro Mosquera went deep on the very next pitch to give AIC the 2-0 lead.
- In the top of the third Mosquera was on first when sophomore Cameron Fitzgerald tripled down the left field line to extend the AIC lead to three.
- The Panthers started to chip away in the bottom of the fourth as Jack Ryan singled down the third baseline and Kyle Olson scored. They narrowed their deficit to one in the bottom of the fifth as they scored three runs on three hits and one AIC error.
- Adelphi took the lead in the seventh inning as they scored three runs on five hits to take the 7-3 advantage.
- AIC answered with a pair of runs in their next half-inning. Senior Angel Mendez dug into the box with rookie Jackson Haker on second and graduate Anthony Clark on first. Mendez hit a soft chopper that the pitcher fielded and threw above the first basemen's head which allowed Haker to score and Clark to move to third. Clark touched the plate when Lavelle hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield.
