Baseball's rally falls short at SCSU
NEW HAVEN, Connecticut - The American International College baseball team had a rally fall short in a 7-5 loss at Southern Connecticut State University on Tuesday, March 28.
AIC is now 5-14 on the season.
The Yellow Jackets opened the scoring with a bang, as Jackson Haker homered in the third to put AIC up 1-0. That lead lasted until the fifth, when the Owls scored three on back-to-back extra base hits, and added two more in the sixth for a 5-1 lead on a two-run single.
In the eighth, AIC used the longball again to cut into the gap as Connor Daly smacked a two-run shot, but the Owls bounced back with two in the home half. That proved critical, as AIC scored two more in the ninth on a bases loaded catcher's interference call and a sacrifice fly by Haker, but the Yellow Jackets could not get the tying run in from first base.
AIC heads to Bentley University on Friday, March 31 to open a four-game series with the Falcons.
