MANCHESTER, New Hampshire - The American International College men's basketball team fell 86-60 in Northeast-10 Conference play at Southern New Hampshire University on Wednesday, February 15.
AIC is now 5-21 overall with a 3-15 NE10 record.
The Penmen jumped out to an 8-2 lead, but AIC fought back, as Aguibou Balde knocked a shot down, then set up Omarion Jett-Dobbs for a three, then swiped the ball away; ultimately, Jett-Dobbs dished to Jack Hall for another triple that put AIC ahead 10-8. The Penmen tied it only to have Jett-Dobbs knock down another deep shot from Balde. Kanye Wavezwa added to AIC's run with another pair of makes from outside the arc, expanding the lead to 21-12. However, the Penmen chipped away at the lead, as they went on another run, and ultimately took a 33-30 edge into halftime.
Out of the break, the hosts dropped nine straight to push the lead to double digits. AIC tried to counter again, as Buke Peikrishvili and Hall both hit threes to halve the gap, but that was as close as AIC could get. The Penmen shot 55.1 percent across the second half, and took the game as a result.
Hall's 14 led AIC's scoring, with Jett-Dobbs turning in 11 and Balde and Wavezwa each posting 10. Balde also collected five rebounds, five assists, and four steals.
The team returns home for the final time in the 2022-23 regular season against Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday, February 18 at 3:30 p.m.
