WALTHAM, Massachusetts - The American International College men's basketball team dropped a 78-63 decision at Bentley University on Tuesday, February 21 in Northeast-10 Conference play to close out the 2022-23 regular season.
AIC went 3-17 in NE10 action, and has a 5-22 record overall.
It was a shooting gallery early as Omarion Jett-Dobbs put down a pair of threes to give AIC a 6-5 lead, and shortly after a Bentley run, Buka Peikrishvili hit a deep shot of his own to tiie the game at 11-11. The Falcons again tried to pull away, only to be reeled back in by triples from Kanye Wavezwa and Jack Hall, and a Justice Ellison layup late in the half put AIC back up 28-27. Ultimately, the home team scored the final five points of the half and led 36-31 at the break.
Bentley finally started to get away in the second half, going up 10 on a triple by Mason Webb and forcing an AIC timeout, and extending the lead to as much as 16 by the middle of the frame. From there, they kept AIC at bay, taking the 15-point win.
The Yellow Jackets were co-led in scoring by Hall and Jett-Dobbs with 14 each, while Jalen Jordan scored 12. Aguibou Balde topped the team with eight rebounds.
AIC heads to the University of New Haven on Friday, February 24 for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff in the opening round of the Northeast-10 Championship Tournament.
