Kramer, Wallstrom earn All-AHA nods
WINTHROP, Massachusetts - Two members of the American International College ice hockey team earned 2023-24 All-Conference accolades from the Atlantic Hockey Association, the league announced on Tuesday, March 12.
Brian Kramer was named First-Team All-Conference, and Nils Wallstrom was selected to the All-Rookie team.
Kramer's incredible output at both ends of the ice were crucial to AIC's success this season. He set an AIC record by becoming the first defenseman in the Division I era to reach the 10-goal mark, and overall has 21 points. His +12 rating is a team best. The AIC co-captain featured on SportsCenter's Top 10 plays for the third time in the last two seasons with a key breakup of an overtime 2-on-0 against Holy Cross, and scored three game-winning tallies including in extra time against No. 19 RIT. He set up the game-tying tally in the eventual overtime win in Game 2 of the AHA Quarterfinal at Air Force as well.
Wallstrom has been brilliant in his first campaign between the pipes for the Yellow Jackets. Serving as the primary starter, he set an AIC rookie record with 17 wins, the second-most in a season by a Yellow Jacket since the inception of the program, and the second-most by a first-year competitor in the history of the AHA. He has a .916 save percentage and a 2.34 goals against average. Against the Falcons in the AHA Quarterfinal, he was the star of the series, stopping 69 of 72 shots including 15 in the extra frame before AIC won the series.
Kramer, Wallstrom, and their teammates will face The College of the Holy Cross in the AHA Semifinal beginning Friday, March 15 at 7:05 p.m. at the Hart Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.
