Taleb named NE10 Men's Soccer Rookie of the Year, four earn All-Conference
MANSFIELD, Massachusetts - Freshman forward Ali Taleb of the American International College men's soccer team earned Northeast-10 Rookie of the Year honors, headlining a quartet of players recognized by the conference office for their performances in the 2023 season, the league announced on Tuesday, November 7.
Taleb additionally earned Third-Team All-Conference, alongside graduate forward Manuel Schwarz and graduate defender Hallvard Boehn, and All-Rookie, alongside freshman midfielder Thom Hulshof.
The first Northeast-10 Rookie of the Year in men's soccer for the Yellow Jackets since Matt Regan won in 1984, Taleb sparkled in a campaign that saw him notch seven goals and a pair of assists for 16 points, claiming United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week honors on October 11.
Schwarz also earned United Soccer Coaches Player of the Week on September 27 after a hat trick against Assumption, as part of an eight-goal season despite being limited to 13 games due to injury.
Boehn, in his first campaign with AIC, was a stalwart defender, helping hold the opposition to zero or one goals in 10 games that he played in, and also scored a goal for AIC.
Hulshof, a rookie midfielder, also played strongly on the defensive side, and also notched his first collegiate goal this season.
