Bio

Junior Williams joined the AIC track & field coaching staff ahead of the winter 2023-24 season and was named a full time assistant coach in March 2024.

Williams brings over two decades of track and field coaching experience to the Yellow Jackets. He spent over a decade on the staff at Westfield State University, where among his pupils are two national champions. Current Owls Head Cross Country Coach Marlee Berg-Haryasz was coached by Williams when she was a student-athlete at Westfield State and won the 2009 NCAA Division III National Championship in the high jump, as was 2015 NCAA Division III National Champion Travon Godette, who won the javelin title.

Williams has also worked with Smith College, Mount Holyoke College, and Amherst College student-athletes, and is familiar with the AIC program from previous experience working with some Yellow Jackets athletes; another protégé of Williams is Bidemi Balogun, who became AIC’s first-ever track and field All-American in the weight throw. Balogun is one of just a number of athletes who earned All-American status across all three NCAA levels with the help of Williams.

In addition to his track experience, Williams brings additional leadership experience to the program, working for two decades with the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services before shifting gears to own a pair of restaurants in Chicopee from 2016-2023.
