HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1:
- The Yellow Jackets wasted no time as they put two runs on the board in the first. Sophomore Abigail Wells hit a one-out single to left and classmate Kodi Gora went deep to right to give AIC the lead.
- The Yellow Jackets kept the lead until the third inning when the Purple Knights plated five runs on five hits to take their first lead of the day.
- The Yellow Jackets put a runner on base in the fifth and sixth both with one out or less but were unable to push another run across as Bridgeport took the first game 5-2.
Game 2:
- The Purple Knights took an early lead in their first at-bat as they scored four runs on four hits. They added an insurance run in the second inning.
- A half-inning later senior Noelle Gramlich led the inning with a single to center followed by advancing to second on a fielder's choice off the bat of junior Lilly Acampora who beat out the throw. With two on Wells singled to right and Gramlich came around to score. Gora stepped in and grounded out to the catcher but Acampora took the risk to head home and scored on the play. On the next play, rookie Leah Twyman sent one back to the pitcher who elected to go to first as Wells scored to make it 5-3.
- Bridgeport added two to their tally to extend their lead and put the game out of reach for the Yellow Jackets.
