Mohnacky tabbed to lead Triathlon
SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts – American International College Director of Athletics Jessica Chapin announced the hiring of Matthew Mohnacky as Head Triathlon Coach on Friday, September 8.
"Matthew brings to us a track record of building successful teams and helping student-athletes reach their full potential on and off the course. We believe he is a great fit for the College and our program," Chapin said.
When asked where he sees this team going, Mohnacky stated, " I am thrilled to be a part of such a fantastic team at AIC. The athletes are incredibly talented, dedicated, and supportive of one another. It's inspiring to see how much we can grow and improve every day! "
Mohnacky previously worked as the Head Coach at Transylvania University and led his team to second place in Division III East in 2022-23. He also directed the program's recruiting, including social media and community outreach.
Before that, he assisted the Triathlon Club Student Executive Board in developing the club's triathlon program at The Ohio State University as it grew to one of the largest teams in the country while competing in the Mideast Collegiate Triathlon Conference.
Mohnacky is a ten-year veteran of The U.S. Coast Guard and holds an AAS in Sport and Exercise Studies, a B.S. in Sport Industry from Ohio State University, and an M.S. in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Ohio University.
