Five from Women's Volleyball earn NE10 All-Conference honors
MANSFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College women's volleyball team had five student-athletes earn Northeast-10 Conference All-Conference honors for the 2023 season, the league office announced on Wednesday, November 15.
Aleksandra Ivanovic earned First-Team accolades, while Amber Williams and Alice Di Francesco took Second-Team honors, and Paola Soto Burgos was named Third-Team All-Conference. Claudia Flores Marrero earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team.
Ivanovic was a dominant force for AIC. She led the conference in attack percentage in league play with a stunning .500 mark, and was second in total blocks with 44 and blocks per set at 1.07. All of that combined to give her 162 points in conference, a league best.
Williams likewise was consistently successful swinging, ranking fourth in league play with a .375 attack percentage as she tallied 121 kills and 28 blocks, 0.68 per set.
Di Francesco was the NE10's playmaking champion with 435 assists, 62 more than the second-place finisher; her 10.61 assists per set was also atop the conference. She notched 21 aces and 128 digs for the Yellow Jackets, 3.12 per set.
Soto Burgos was AIC's primary outside attacking option and finished fourth in the league in kills with 121, just ahead of Ivanovic. She pulled in 102 digs and made 30 blocks, and her 145.5 total points was fourth in the NE10.
A key contributor as a first-year player, Flores Marrero played all 41 conference sets as a rookie mostly in the back row, where she made 88 digs. Though teams targeted her on the serve 185 times, her 97.8 reception percentage was key in helping set up AIC's attack.
