ORONO, Maine - The American International College ice hockey team fell 6-0 to the No. 12 University of Maine on Saturday, October 5.
AIC is 0-1-0 to start the season.
The Black Bears struck early, with Taylor Makar scoring on a breakaway just 1:35 in, but the Yellow Jackets pushed back and defended well from there to the end of the period.
In the second, Makar scored a second goal at 4:24, and Harrison Scott hit the net at 13:50, giving the hosts a 3-0 lead through two.
Nolan Renwick scored a pair early in the third at 0:41 and 3:54, and Thomas Freel tipped in a power play goal at 9:24 for the 6-0 final.
Chase Clark and Adam Manji made their AIC debuts in the game; Clark stopped 18 shots in 40:00 of play, while Manji made his first eight collegiate saves in the final 20:00.
The Yellow Jackets next face Ohio State University on Friday, October 11.
