SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - In a game that featured more than its share of action, both teams scored in a 13-second span as the American International College men's soccer team tied Adelphi University 1-1 in Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday, October 5.
AIC is now 0-4-3 with an 0-1-2 NE10 mark.
Adelphi broke the ice late in the first on a corner kick. The ball in deflected up off the right post and bounced back to Pablo Ablenedo, who tucked it home at 41:52.
Off of the restart, AIC answered. Guilherme Afonso kicked a deep pass up the left side of the field and Dollby St. Louis ran onto it just above the left side of the 18-yard box. As Adelphi netminder Santiago Arango came out to challenge for the ball, St. Louis beat him to it and chipped it over him for his first collegiate goal in his first collegiate game at 42:05.
Though both teams had looks in the second half, neither side yielded again in a 45-minute stanza which featured a combined five yellow cards.
AIC next visits the University of New Haven on Tuesday, October 8 at 7:00 p.m.
