Nine from Women's Rugby named to All-NIRA squad
SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts – Nine members of the 2024 National Intercollegiate Rugby Association Division II National Champion American International College women's rugby team were named All-NIRA, the association announced on Friday, February 7.
Seven student-athletes earned First-Team honors, while two others were named Honorable Mention.
On the First Team, Venise Sanft took an All-NIRA nod for the second season in a row, having been named Honorable Mention All-NIRA in 2023.
Joining Sanft on the First Team with their first career selections were Jendell Moe, Camryn Henderson, Ro'Elenoa Lagilagi, Kiyanah Edwards, SaTya Miller, and NIRA Championship Most Outstanding Player Naomi Dodd.
Morgan Schecher also made her second All-NIRA team, taking an Honorable Mention selection after being First-Team All-NIRA in 2023; Isa Van de Zand was also an Honorable Mention pick, her first career selection.
The nine student-athletes selected were all in AIC's starting lineup for the NIRA Championship, which AIC won 20-15 over Davenport University on November 23 to claim the program's second national title in four seasons.
