SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College ice hockey team shut out Stonehill College 3-0 on Tuesday, November 19.
AIC is now 3-8-1 on the season.
Timofei Khokhlachev opened the scoring with his fourth of the year at 4:00 of the first, finishing a pass from David Posma at the netfront. Jordan Biro earned the second assist on the play.
In the second, AIC scored on a Stonehill miscue; after Wilhelm Forsberg knocked the puck back to Tyler Procious, Procious flipped it end-to-end into the Stonehill zone. Alfred Lindberg was there to grab the loose puck, and wired home his third of the year at 5:55.
A late period major penalty gave AIC a long power play, and the Yellow Jackets cashed it in. Alexander Malinowski found Biro in the left circle right above the goal line, and Biro faked a pass before slipping a backhand into the net for his first of the season at 15:45.
That was all AIC needed for offense; Peyton Grainer made 16 stops for his first collegiate win and shutout.
AIC resumes Atlantic Hockey America play on Saturday, November 23 at 6:00 p.m. against Niagara University. The game will be AIC's Alumni Night contest.
