SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College field hockey team was even through two periods in a 3-1 Northeast-10 Conference loss to Pace University on Saturday, October 26.
AIC falls to 6-9 overall and 4-7 in NE10 play.
The Setters struck first, with Jenna McCrudden tallying off a pass from Krista Dietz at 5:24.
The Yellow Jackets quickly countered, as a shot in the attacking circle by Morgan Martellio snuck behind the Pace netminder, and Brianna Harzula was there to sweep it home at 10:24. The tally was the first collegiate field hockey goal for the graduate student, who had previously been a four-year member of AIC's softball team as an undergraduate, and was also the first goal AIC had scored against Pace since the 2019 season.
AIC kept the game tied until the late stages of the third period, when Carlotta Oschmann fired a high shot into the net at 9:02.
Dietz added a fourth-quarter goal at 7:47 for the 3-1 result.
Fenna Voll compiled two defensive saves and Morgan Martellio notched one, tying her for the NE10 lead with 13. Frederique den Hartog made 11 saves.
AIC next visits Southern New Hampshire University on Tuesday, October 29 at 7:00 p.m.
