MANCHESTER, New Hampshire - The American International College men's basketball team came up short, 73-60, in a Northeast-10 Conference contest at Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday, January 18.
AIC is now 3-15 overall and 2-8 in the NE10.
Lovre Zaja hit a three for AIC's first points of the game, and midway through the first, Buka Peikrishvili sank a triple to push AIC ahead 14-11.
The teams traded the lead back and forth down the stretch run of the first half, and a late jumper sent the Penmen to the locker room up 35-32.
AIC kept it close in the early stages of the second half, pulling within three on a jumper by Abdullah Mahamed right after the midpoint of the frame.
The Penmen were able to stymie AIC from there, however, holding the Yellow Jackets to eight points over the final 9:58 to win 73-60.
Justice Ellison had a game-high 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double.
AIC returns to action Wednesday, January 22 at 7:30 p.m. against Pace University at the Butova Gymnasium.
