Acrobatics and Tumbling makes history in first-ever competition at Georgian Court
LAKEWOOD, New Jersey - The American International College acrobatics and tumbling team scored its first-ever points as a program in a 177.505-16.625 setback at Georgian Court University on Monday, February 10. The meet was the first in program history for the Yellow Jackets.
AIC was only able to compete in six of the 20 events owing to only having six available student-athletes, but the group nevertheless put in a strong effort.
In the compulsory events, AIC scored its first points with 2.00 in the acro heat.
The acro section was AIC's biggest opportunity, with all three events filled; AIC combined to garner 6.30 points between the five-element, six-element, and seven-element heats.
Finally, in the tumbling section, the Yellow Jackets added on points in two events. The trio pass earned another 2.00 points, and Miranda Pues impressed in the open pass with a 6.325, leading AIC to the 16.625 final score.
The team will look to improve and make more history on Thursday, February 27 at 6:00 p.m. when AIC hosts its first-ever home meet against Caldwell University.
