Victoria Mendez and Claudia Flores Marrero earned the accolade for women's volleyball, while Morgan Martellio earned the honor from field hockey.
Mendez became the ninth Yellow Jacket to earn American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America honors after an unbelievable campaign where she garnered East Region Player of the Year status from the AVCA and Division II Conference Commissioners Association and NE10 Player of the Year status. She led AIC with 266 kills in 28 matches, for 2.71 kills per set, and hit .258 while also compiling 478 assists, 42 aces, 247 digs, and 66 blocks. Her 344.5 points far and away led the team, and her 3.5 points per set were the most in the NE10.
The native of Montevideo, Uruguay, has also posted a 3.62 GPA as an international business major.
Flores Marrero was the NE10's Elite 24 Award winner, making her the first in AIC volleyball history to take that accolade given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA at the finals site of each of the NE10's 24 conference championships. Noted for her defensive prowess, she played in all 28 of AIC's matches and accumulated 200 digs and 384 receptions, successfully receiving serves at a 95.5 percent rate, and also earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District accolades.
The San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico native has been brilliant academically as well, with a 3.96 GPA in human biology.
Martellio rewrote AIC field hockey's record book as a center back in the 2024 campaign, breaking the previous single-season defensive saves mark set by Katrina Heterbring '11 and tied twice by Chelsea Davis '19, '21 with 13 on the season, including an NCAA single-game record-tying five against Adelphi University. She notched two goals and three assists on the campaign, including setting up both tallies in AIC's 2-1 win over NE10 foe Molloy University.
Martellio, hailing from nearby Uxbridge, Massachusetts, has posted a 3.81 GPA and is in the graduate phase of AIC's physical therapy program.
