Selected Graduate Assistant will work directly in the Wrestling office to assist coaches with day-to-day coaching/teaching, academic support and administrative procedures. This position will directly report to the Head Wrestling Coach.
American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 70+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. The campus has 42 buildings on two sites approximately 1/2 mile apart with a total of approximately 660,000 gross square feet. Included in the inventory of buildings are student residences for a resident population of 900 students. Founded in 1885, the College has 3700 graduate and undergraduate students. American International College's varsity athletics programs primarily compete in NCAA Division II, as a charter member of the prestigious Northeast-10 Conference (NE10) for all sports that both the institution and conference sponsors, with the exception of men's ice hockey, which is a charter member of the NCAA Division I Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA). Additionally, AIC sponsors varsity men's volleyball and wrestling and women's rugby and triathlon.
Position Overview:
- Teaching & Coaching (51%) - Assist the coaching staff to provide student-athletes with the necessary knowledge, skills and experiences required to be competitive at their chosen position or area.
- Teach & Coach student athletes during competition and practices
- Conduct video breakdown and instruction as a teaching and preparation tool
- Assist in the planning and implementation of practice techniques to improve student-athlete skills
- Recruiting (34%) – Assist the program in recruiting and maintaining a squad size consistent with College and department goals.
- Identify, evaluate and recruit potential student athletes to their respective program/positions
- Maintain current records and evaluations through ARMS software to adhere to compliance regulations
- Ensure ALL recruiting operations adhere to College and NCAA DII policies.
- Administration (15%) - Assist with key administrative tasks including team travel, budget management and student-athlete academic success.
Qualifications:
- Admittance into an AIC graduate program
- Program must be: MBA, MEd, Public Health, Clinical Psych, General Psych or Forensic Psych.
- Completed Undergraduate Education
- Two-year commitment as a Graduate Assistant preferred
- Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience preferred
- Proficiency in coaching and skill analysis within the sport one is applying
- Candidate must be self-motivated and demonstrate strong organizational skills
Salary: Stipend plus tuition remission up to 18 credits per year at the current MBA rate.
