Goode sets single-seasons assists mark, but Men's Lacrosse beaten by Pace
SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College men's lacrosse team fell 17-8 to Pace University in Northeast-10 Conference play on Wednesday, April 2.
AIC is now 2-7 overall and 0-4 in the NE10.
Pace pulled out to a 3-0 lead just before the seven-minute mark, but AIC was able to slow the Setters attack and hold the visitors off the board of the rest of the period. Cole Gaudet hit the net as well, scoring AIC's first goal at 11:20 to make it 3-1 after one.
Though the Setters struck first in the second, AIC again slowed their offense, and Cole Gaudet found Carter Linkletter open in the middle for a tally at 3:05. Pace won the subsequent faceoff and scored almost immediately, sparking a five-goal run. AIC snapped the skid with a Jordan Boyenko finish in front off a feed from X by Tyler Goode, but the Setters notched the next two to lead 11-3 at the break.
Pace again scored right off the opening faceoff in the second half, only for AIC to answer on the man-up as Seven Gillingham set up Jacob Ligor for a strike. Pace notched the next two, but AIC rebounded as Boyenko hit Hunter Terlik in front for a behind-the-back strike at 8:37. Pace scored two more before the period ended, and entered the final frame up 16-5.
AIC scored twice early in the frame, as Ligor found Gaudet open on the left on a man-up at 1:39, and then less than a minute later Terlik scored his second of the day. Pace scored once near the midpoint of the quarter, and the game's final goal came from Gillingham, who took a pass that Goode was able to thread through the defense for an open look in the middle with 3:02 to play.
That assist gave Goode 26 on the season, breaking his tie with the late Aaron McNab '11, '12 MS, who had 25 in 2011, the most in a single campaign in program history. Goode had previously tied that mark in 2024, and he is the first men's player in program history with multiple 25-assist seasons.
Logan Dobrowski made 14 saves in the setback. Carter Linkletter forced four turnovers and grabbed eight ground balls.
AIC returns to action on Saturday, April 5 at Bentley University. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
