No. 8 Pace wins rainy battle with Women's Lacrosse
SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The No. 8 Pace University Setters roared past the American International College women's lacrosse team, 22-4, in a Northeast-10 Conference contest on Saturday, March 29.
AIC is now 2-8 overall and 0-3 in the NE10.
Pace scored two quick goals in the first 89 seconds, but AIC was able to slow the Setters somewhat over the next four minutes, and a quick end-to-end play put the home team on the board. Faith Hall fired a pass forward that Gabrielle Walz was able to run on to right at the restraining line, and she carried the ball in from there before feeding Isabelle Stone for a shot and a goal at 5:43.
The Setters controlled the rest of the half, scoring the next 10 goals before Stone found Jordyn Galgay in front for a man-up tally at 11:41 of the second. Pace led 13-2 at the break.
In the third, the Setters added six to their total, while Walz scored an unassisted tally.
Pace notched the first goal of the final frame, but AIC responded as Walz connected with Galgay after a card against the Setters for AIC's fourth of the night. Pace scored the last two tallies to generate the 22-4 final.
Maggie Kloster made 10 saves in her 45:00 of play, including her 100th career stop late in the second quarter. Emily French made her home debut for the lacrosse team, and made her first two stops for the squad in the 15:00 she played, all in the third period.
AIC breaks from NE10 action to face the University of Bridgeport on Monday, March 31 at 6:00 p.m. at Ronald J. Abdow Field.
