Brendan Riley

Bio

The American International College ice hockey team named Brendan Riley Assistant Coach on July 20, 2022 after he served as the team's Director of Hockey Operations for the 2021-22 season.

In his first season with the team, Riley most notably took charge of video for the team. He oversaw video breakdown and analytical review both for scouting upcoming opponents and for in-game adjustments as well as potential coach’s challenges. With Riley as the team's "eye in the sky", he helped AIC to capture its fourth-straight Atlantic Hockey Association Regular Season Championship and third-straight AHA Tournament title.

Riley was a four-year member of Atlantic Hockey Association opponent Mercyhurst University from 2016-17 through 2019-20. He served as an alternate captain as a senior and played 91 total games for the Lakers.

Riley’s hockey lineage is a strong one. He was teammates with his brother, Jack Riley, at Mercyhurst, and his father Brian Riley is the head coach at Army West Point; his grandfather, the late Jack Riley, was the legendary Army head coach who led the 1960 US Olympic Team to a Gold Medal in Squaw Valley and the namesake of the AHA’s championship trophy; Brendan became the first member of the Riley family to win the trophy after it was named after Jack when AIC won in 2022.
