Rivier upends men's volleyball
NASHUA, New Hampshire - The American International College men's volleyball team fell 22-25, 16-25, 21-25 to Rivier University on Tuesday, March 28.
AIC is now 2-19 on the season.
The first set was back-and-forth, as AIC kept it close and tied the set at 19-19. However, the Raiders were able to grab the lead back with a three-point run and ultimately took the set 25-22.
In the second, the Raiders used a few short runs to put together a signficant lead, going ahead 16-6. AIC closed the gap to six points, but could not get any closer as a final three-point run put the set away for the hosts.
With their backs against the wall, the Yellow Jackets came out hot, running up four straight points including a pair of blocks by Pedro Panelli and William Fitzpatrick to go ahead 10-6. That lead blossomed to 17-11 after another four-point run, and at 20-15 AIC was in a good spot. However, the Raiders rebounded, and scored 10 of the next 11 to steal the set, and with it the match.
Alejandro Miranda led AIC's offense with nine kills; Robert Santana added seven and eight digs as well. Michael Maldonado put up 14 assists.
AIC's home finale is Saturday, April 1 at noon against Vassar.
