Bio

The American International College women’s basketball team brought home one of its own, naming Destine Perry ’21, ’23 MBA as the team’s assistant coach ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Perry was a five-year member of the women’s basketball team at AIC. Across 107 games, she scored 946 points and totaled 185 assists and 127 steals for the Yellow Jackets.

Statistically, her best season was in 2020-21; she averaged a career-best 17.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, and led the team in scoring, rebounding, and steals. Her play helped AIC secure a berth in the 2021 NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament, the first for the program since 2016. Perry then served as team captain in 2021-22, her final on-court season as a Yellow Jacket.

Perry continued to aid the basketball program in 2022-23 after exhausting her playing eligibility, as she spent a year serving as an Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant. Among her duties, she was the primary statistician for the basketball teams.

Perry earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the College in 2021, and followed with a master’s degree in general psychology in 2023 from AIC.
